What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a popular treatment for anti-aging and acne. While it isn't new, it's getting renewed attention from celebrities, physicians, and consumers who demand fast results. But what exactly is microneedling? How does it work? Can it really make me look younger in just a few months?

What exactly is microneedling? Microneedling is a non-surgical, cosmetic procedure that creates tiny punctures or microchannels in the skin. After treatment, new collagen and elastin fibers fill the holes left by the micro-needles, which can help reduce acne scars, stretch marks, under-eye circles, and wrinkles.

A new option offered at the Spa is RF microneedling. When the microneedles penetrate the skin the radiofrequency heats the deeper layers of the skin to precise temperatures that cause the fibroseptal network to contract and pull your skin tight. This is an easy way to Revitalize your skin and look younger!

How many microneedling treatments will I need?

The number of treatments you will need is dependent on your condition and the severity of your skin concerns. On average, 3 sessions spaced at least 4 weeks apart are recommended to see optimal results. It's important to note that while microneedling works well for most patients, it may not be right for everyone. For example, if you have oily or acne-prone skin, you might experience more irritation after treatment compared with someone without these concerns. If this happens to you and it's not causing any issues, then there's no reason to stop microneedling! However, if it causes more irritation or interferes too much with your daily life, try switching up your routine by using less frequent treatments (every 3-4 months instead of every 2 weeks).

Microneedling is an effective anti-aging treatment, but it isn't for everyone. If you're interested in learning more about how microneedling can help you achieve the skin you've always wanted, contact us today.
